DAVID A. HELFANT is an entertainment attorney specializing in the fields of music, television and motion pictures. Mr. Helfant was previously an attorney with Bushkin, Gaims, Gaines & Jonas, with whom he performed legal work for Johnny Carson, John Travolta, Van Halen, Columbia Pictures, The Commercial Bank of California, Marsha Mason, Joyce DeWitt, Lou Gossett, Jr., and Steppenwolf, to name just a few.
He started his own practice in March, 1984, and performs legal work for "Expose", Nia Peeples, Mitsubishi Electric's Meldac Records, Jazz Pictures, Inc., Interscope Communications, Nat Kipner, Track 24 Productions, Video Knockouts, Wyatt Knight of the "Porky's" trilogy, and Rhino Records, among others.
In his affiliation with Menes Law Corporation as of counsel, Mr. Helfant's legal representation includes Phil Collins, Genesis, Manhattan Transfer, Lee Ritenour, Phil Perry, Rough Trade Records, Victor Music, and Videoarts Japan. Mr. Helfant also serves as president of Fandel Management, which currently represents Geffen Records recording artist "I Love You", Love Hewitt, recording artist and star of the new Fox Television series "Shaky Ground" and Lester Hayes, formerly a Los Angeles Raider.
Through Fandel Management, Mr. Helfant co-produced "The Silver/Black Attack", performed by the Los Angeles Raiders, which highly acclaimed project yielded a long-form home videocassette and hit record. Mr. Helfant also executive produced a music video and single for the United Nations Global Youth Forum entitled "Please Save Us The World", which project premiered at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992.
