James Poyser is a Grammy Award winning songwriter, record producer, and keyboardist from Philadelphia, known for his R&B, hip-hop, gospel and pop productions. He has written and produced for a number of artists including, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Common, The Roots, Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton, D'Angelo, Mariah Carey, Musiq Soulchild, Keyshia Cole, Vivian Green, Al Green, Talib Kweli, Queen Latifah, Raven-Symone, Tye Tribbett, Marvin Sapp, Mýa, Nikka Costa, and Ruben Studdard.

An accomplished keyboardist, Poyser has toured and played live with many artists including, Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, D'Angelo, Jay-Z, The Roots, Erykah Badu, Queen Latifah, and Aretha Franklin, to name a few. He has also performed as a musician on albums for a number of artists including, Roy Hargrove, Joss Stone, Ziggy Marley, Macy Gray, and Femi Kuti.

Poyser took home the Best R&B Song Grammy in 2003 for co-writing "Love Of My Life (An Ode To Hip Hop)" (Erykah Badu + Common), and was also nominated for Best R&B Song in 2004 for "Danger" (Erykah Badu) and 2005 for "Mine Again" (Mariah Carey). He recently scored the film Totally Awesome and appeared and performed as the keyboardist in the concert films Jay-Z's Fade to Black and Dave Chappelle's Block Party. His songs have been featured in numerous major motion pictures such as Brown Sugar, The Fighting Temptations, Baby Boy, For One Night, and The Wash.
