"It was pretty awesome how this all came about. Yesterday I was getting goosebumps listening to him [Greg Wells] speak on the A-list producers panel at the ASCAP Expo and was just thinking how hard it was going to be to get to him through all of his filters. I was just sitting there thinking of all these hair-brained schemes to try and get him to hear us - all without pestering him. Then I met you guys the next morning and saw that Greg was on your site.

We couldn’t get our music to Greg until we used Music180. We sent him 9 songs for critique, and we got his feedback the next day. Hearing what he said was a religious experience for me. His advice was incredible - it gave us new direction, lots of hope, and now we may get to work with Greg!"

Personal Feedback on 3 Songs SkyRocket Love Profile

"You guys are reeeeeally good. The writing is quite strong, as are performances vocally and instrumentally. Thanks for choosing me as the person on this site to get into your music.

Here's my thoughts on this song. I think the song is super strong, and the only thing I'd look at from a songwriting perspective is the transition from the pre-chorus to the chorus. There's something melodically and maybe harmonically that feels like a road bump going into the chorus. I LOVE the surprise of the new tonal center in the chorus, but I don't get led up the mountain into the chorus the way my ear wants to be taken there. Does that make sense? I feel there's a more pleasing way to take the listener into the chorus. Apart from that, this is a great song.

Now onto the recording. I could be wrong, but this sounds like the result of when a band goes into the studio trying to make everything sound "perfect" and what often is the result of that approach is that everything ultimately sounds slightly lifeless and overthought. I'm always a fan of keeping some rough edges. So much of making a great recording is about capturing the energy of a song and an artist/band. There are many ways to do it, but it is something that is often overlooked. It all feels a bit uptight and self-aware. Not massively, just a bit. But to my ears, a bit is way too much. I would encourage you to have another go at this with a fresh approach.

I hope there's been some helpful input in this critique. Your band is light years ahead of most bands trying to do what you're doing. If you have some links to live footage, I'd be curious to see that too.

All the best,
Greg"
